I Wish I’d Said This!

Has this happened to you…often? I’ll run across some magic words…a phrase or sentence that I swear originated in my heart. Maybe my head. Sometimes my gut. But you get the idea. And when I find out the author is anonymous? How could that be? Mystified. See what I mean:

All I can tell you is there is a moment were you finally stop and refuse to pretend this life is not yours and suddenly being strong looks a lot like laughing and crying and dancing and listening deeply to the people you love. And now and then you’ll look back at that old way and wonder how you ever believed that life was something to endure.

Anonymous…so far as I know

Yes! Laughing, crying, listening and dancing — with the people I love? What else is there?

Every now and then I need to remind myself to avoid the big ‘overthink’. It’s my specialty but it’s not very rewarding nor fulfilling. I won’t make promises about tomorrow but just for today, I’m remembering this life is mine and I’m strong.

Vicki 💕

I wish I said that! I don’t know why but that’s going to stick with me. Maybe because I’ve always been a big believer in ‘all we have is today.’

  4. I love this quote. Life is definitely much more than something to be endured, though some chapters feel a lot like that.

  5. Ah, beautiful! Sometimes we need someone else to put words to our abstract thoughts. What a gift to have found that! Hope you have a lovely and restful weekend, Vicki! 🥰

Good words, Vicki. For me, the answers depend on the day. “What is life?” questions reduce and reduce to single words like kindness or love, etc. I accept that all the words I might produce have been thought and said before.

I imagine you’ve read “The Tempest.” Prospero’s last words and actions words provide consolation as he sets aside his magic and deals with the bad guys. That is enough.

    1. Ah yes! Notes on forgiveness. Thank you for bringing Prospero forward. It is enough…just as you said…love and kindness…simplicity. Thank you. 🥰

  7. I love your sentiment, a “sentence that I swear originated in my heart.” Those are the best lines of all, I think! And listening deeply – one of your specialties. Thank you for this post that hits the spot!! ❤ ❤ ❤

  9. Own what you have and who you are… Not much else makes sense really and there are those days that you just have to deal and hope they don’t come too often!

Also- I often wish I could credit myself for brilliant little wisdoms but I always like others words so much more 😉

  10. Makes me sad to think that some people, and perhaps rightfully so, consider life to be endured. I rather think it’s worth living.

  13. Thanks for reminding me to stop and enjoy the “What Is” moment. Not the what’s gonna be, or the what was moment—the here and now. Laughter, love, listening moments—really, isn’t that the nugget that makes life worth living?

      1. No kidding! Me too. I keep surrendering stuff I don’t want, then darned if I don’t take it right back again! Sigh. One of these days it’ll all stay where it’s supposed to be! You have a wonderful weekend too Vicki! 🥰
