Oh…this was fun! Another visit with our friend and writer Brian Hannon talking about our common interests in writing about families.
I love a good ‘tip list’ to keep me on track and inspire my writing and Brian found a gem of a resource, which he shares in this episode.
I can’t lie, the tip about ‘darkness and humor’ speaks to me, especially because the segments in “Surviving Sue” about sit-com silly, “I Love Lucy” moments with my mom continue to delight readers. Even villains have good days. Thank you for that reminder, Brian.
Last weekend I received this sweet comment from a reader:
I loved the humor and the equally touching tender moments you used to describe your life with Lucy/Sue. My mom had a stroke in 2017 and as a result, developed dementia…and there is no other way through that without laughter.
Gosh, yes. My mom had a myriad of issues and as her challenges with dementia progressed, humor saved the day again and again. And my sanity.
I hope you’ll give the episode a listen to learn from Brian and Wynne. Insights galore!
