I love a fresh review of “Surviving Sue”. A reader sent me a note last week and I’m still thinking about her thoughtful feedback. I think that’s what I love most about writing – learning what stands out to readers. Such a gift!
Here’s the observation from Kaley:
“Even though there were women who disappointed you and didn’t step up to help, the stories about the strong women who went out of their way to intervene, or just bear witness, is the biggest takeaway for me in your book. The school secretary, the neighbor, the attorney, the doctors (finally) and nurses who saw what you were dealing with. Especially the ones who were there in the end for you and for Lisa. Girl power, women power. I can’t think of a time when we needed to saddle up more and remember our strength.”
Kaley’s right. A series of impactful women entered my life at key junctures, helping me find my footing despite the obstacles Sue laid in my path. I sometimes lose track of the cumulative impact. A reminder that’s potent right now. Better together…using our voices for good.
Thank you, Kaley!
