Thanks to friends Diana (D. Wallace Peach) from Myths of the Mirror and Cheryl Oreglia from Living in the Gap, I learned about a wonderful resource for writers and readers alike, called “Shepherd”.
How does it work? Authors showcase one of their books along with five books they recommend. Books that are sources of inspiration, tools that may have aided the writer in the journey of writing and publishing.
Shepherd’s intention:
It’s a great way for readers to find new favorite books around a specific topic or theme. More than 8,000 authors are part of the Shepherd platform. Authors recommend books they adore and why in their short reviews.
I’d love for you to pop over to check out my Shepherd page and the five books I reviewed. Unsurprisingly, given the publication of “Surviving Sue”, my interests are around personal narratives and the memoir genre. (Thanks to blogging friend Georgia for introducing me to one of the books on my list, Melissa Febos’ “Body Work“.)
My five books:

What I love most about Shepherd is the opportunity it provides to peek into the heads and hearts of authors I admire to see what books matter most to them. A delight! The second thing I appreciate? The team at Shepherd was wonderful to work with and made the process of creating my page easy and fun. Cheers and kudos to all!
Take a look at my Shepherd page and let me know what you think.
Smiles,
-Vicki 😊
Note: On the Shepherd site, note that the Bookshop.org link on my page is disabled. Paperback copies are available exclusively through my publisher, Eckhartz Press and not through the Bookshop.org link on the Shepherd site. “Surviving Sue” IS available through the Shepherd link as an eBook through Amazon.
Pics above are my own: The cover of “Surviving Sue”, a portrait of sister Lisa, mom/Sue and myself and Sue taken in 1971 for my dad’s office and a sweet photo of mom/Sue fishing with her father in 1946.
