Peek Inside: “Surviving Sue” – On the Road

If you’re in the Chicago area, I’d love to meet you next week at a “Surviving Sue” event, focused on caregivers and elder care challenges:

Palos Heights Public Library

Thursday, May 9

7pm – 8pm

I’m grateful to so many readers for their support and recognition about the challenges of being a caregiver and if I’ve learned anything in my own journey, it’s the realization that building – and sustaining – a community of encouraging friends and family can make a difference. Connections and networks of support are essential.

All the details about next week’s event can be found in this link: Navigating Elder Care | Palos Heights Public Library (librarycalendar.com)

  • Thanks much to the supportive team at Eckhartz Press, for believing in the power of my story, my own caregiving adventure told in “Surviving Sue”.
  • Check out this post with some sweet reader feedback, highlighting the importance of ‘care and keeping’ of caregivers and the May 9 event.
  • And a bit more? Here’s additional “Peek Inside” content about “Surviving Sue”. I’m grateful for the great reviews on Amazon and Goodreads…and the wonderful questions and input from thoughtful readers. I welcome more!  If you’ve enjoyed the book and my story, please pass along your positivity to a fellow reader.

Vicki 😊

  7. Best wishes with your event, Vicki. It makes me happy to see you doing a library program, as someone who works in public libraries.

If you’re ever down in Canada, you’ll have to do a program on our side of the continent!

Best of luck to you, Vicki. The strain of being a long-time caregiver is one of the least talked about challenges of caregiving.

When I used to visit my mom at her assisted living facility, the quality of care and compassion varied dramatically from worker to worker. One of the wisest bits of advice I can give is to treat the employees with respect and be seen. I firmly believe that residents with a good support system receive better care.

    1. Thank you, Pete! I’m so sorry your comment got stuck in spam for some reason. Annoying!
I appreciate your support and agree with you – the long-term impact of caregiving can be substantial and as you said, often overlooked. Your thoughts about the importance of respect and consideration ring true with me…recognizing those who are caring for our loved ones is crucial. 💕

No worries. I seldom remember to check my spam folder. Fortunately, it usually catches all the spam, but occasionally a non-spam comment slips in.
