Just Ask

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.

-Leo Buscaglia

I shared the Leo Buscaglia quote this week, one of my all-time favorites, with our friend Dr. Stein when he offered an old European adage I’d never heard before: “To live in the hearts you leave behind is not to die.”

Oh my. It doesn’t take much to drill down to my ‘why’ when I think about the compulsion to write, share stories, glean goodness from the challenges in my life. Holding dear ones close, however I can manage it, is a life goal and I know I’m not riding solo.

Listening to Wynne in our latest podcast episode reminds me of how important storytelling is for generational goodness; for healing the inevitable ups and downs, the love and loss in life.

Enjoy – and thank you so much for the gift of listening, watching, subscribing. We appreciate it.

  9. There’s a country song by an artist that I can’t think of at the moment who sings about wishing that he could take his kids to heaven for the day. Sure wish that was possible but for now I’ll have to settle for Buscalgia’s beautiful quote! “We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.” Thanks Vicki!

  12. Your theme of asking for someone’s story reminded me of a high school project I did for my history class. It was an oral history project. It didn’t dig into emotions and inner thoughts as Wynne’s did, but I learned so much about my grandfather, his years as an artist during the depression etc., and now I always have that. I LOVE that. Thanks for opening that door to think about it again! 🙂

  16. As I commented in the HOTM post, what a soothing warm conversation to enjoy on this cold rainy day in Toronto with a warm bowl of instant noodle soup.

Love the stories that you share and agree that there is a wonder in what opens up to the world when we just ask. We have so much stories in us to share with each other.
