Fresh Feedback & Coming Soon!

I’ve got some fresh feedback – two lovely reviews to share – and a reminder about an upcoming event!

The friendly folks at the Woodstock Public Library have invited me to present on Tuesday, July 30 and I can’t wait:

Navigating Elder Care with Humor and Grace | Woodstock Public Library (librarycalendar.com)

Caregiving is a topic that connects us, whether we’re providing or receiving. It continues to be one of the most unexpected glimmers of goodness, resulting from writing Surviving Sue.

Feedback from readers is a delight and just when I think I’m as full-to-the-brim as I can be, more goodness rolls in. Feedback received last week:

  • “Reading your book reminded me that we can’t always change our circumstances, but we can find strength in ourselves.”
  • “Your strength and ability to always do the right thing in the face of madness should be a case study in a school course on compassion and focusing on the task at hand. You have a bottomless reservoir of goodness and strength.”

Oh my. Goodness, strength, compassion, empathy. I’m so grateful to readers. My story is just my own, but feedback that it inspires and encourages others is humbling with a humongous capital “H”.

If you’re in the Chicago area, I’d love to see you in a few weeks. Woodstock is a picturesque place – worth a drive if you’re nearby.  And yes. It’s where the classic comedies, “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” and “Groundhog Day” were filmed. Charming!

Thanks for all of the support,

Vicki 😉

P.P.S. I’m grateful for the great reviews on Amazon and Goodreads…and the wonderful questions from thoughtful readers. I welcome more!  If you’ve enjoyed the book and my story, please pass along your positivity to a fellow reader.

I know you will wow them in Woodstock. A question. We’re your folks living, what do you believe would be their reactions to the book?

    1. Aw – thanks, Dr. Stein! Such a great question about how Sue and Sonny might’ve responded about the book. I was grateful that my dear cousin (who was nearly like a son to my dad and a big brother to me) read “Surviving Sue” before he passed away and told me I “got it all right – painful as it was”. His impression was that my dad would’ve been appalled and ashamed by mom/Sue’s decline after his death. Guilty, perhaps for not addressing behaviors when he could. As for my mom? There’s no way I could’ve written the book if she was alive to read it. I would’ve feared for my life and my sister Lisa’s. No doubt. Thank you for the question. 💕

Putting yourself out there to share your story with others so that they might not suffer the same experiences is very noble, Vicki. Tons of respect for what you’re doing.
