Seattle Surprises

“Friendships between women, as any woman will tell you, are built of a thousand small kindnesses… swapped back and forth and over again.”

-Michelle Obama

How much fun is this? Our daughter Delaney had a business trip recently…in Seattle…and knowing how much we adore Wynne…and Miss O and Mr. D, this fabulous foursome (plus Delaney’s friend Cole) had a joyful meetup on a sunny day in Seattle.

If ever there was a desire for teleportation, I felt it that day. Wishing I could pop in from Chicago to say hello. Short of that, knowing that people I love were gathered in one spot? Almost as good!

This is the power of blogging. Connecting. Wholehearted sharing.

Finding dear ones who live thousands of miles away. Friends who become extensions of family, demonstrating all the goodness of ‘found family’. Yes indeedy. Pictures tell the story.

Thanks, as always, to Wynne for her graciousness and love. One of Delaney’s comments to me, after meeting Wynne?

“I see why you adore her, mom. She’s amazing.”

Truer words never spoken.

Vicki 😉

Lagniappe? A little more? Here are four additional quotes about friendship. Gems…every single one. Let me know if you have a favorite. Today? I’m partial to the quote (above) from Michelle Obama. Swapping kindnesses. Yes. My definition of friendship. Wynne Leon style.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

“When friendships are real, they are not glass threads or frost work, but the solidest things we can know.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

“Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.”

Woodrow Wilson

“Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.”

John Evelyn

“Friendship is the golden thread that ties the heart of all the world.”

  1. This is great to read. You just never know when someone you know will need to be introduced to someone else you know. Case in point.

  2. Let’s see–do I get credit for friendships between women if I stand between you and Wynne on either side of me?

Glad to know you regardless. I am a lucky fellow.
