“Slivers”…Delivers

It’s Week #2 in the “Slivers” Book Blurb tour!

Last week I shared Joy Neal Kidney’s wonderful blurb and this week, I’m honored to showcase input from the amazing writer, Melanie McGauran.

I loved reading the comments from last week…grateful for the enthusiasm from future readers of, “Slivers”. Thank you for trusting me! Bonus? The input from those who have read (or are reading) “Surviving Sue”. Here’s one of my favorite comments, offered from Dale at the A Dalectable Life blog:

I am DEEP into Surviving Sue (15% left) and am blown away by your story – your courage in sharing it. I am resenting I have another hour to work because I want to just sink into my chair and read the rest.

Needless to say, Slivers will definitely make its way to my reading list as soon as it is available!

Color me grateful! Thank you, Dale!

This week I’m thrilled to share Melanie’s kind words about “Slivers”. Truly humbling. But first? A reminder…the synopsis:

In a single week in the summer of 1973, a quiet suburban neighborhood implodes when generations of mystical deceit become too much to bear. Drawn to the web of secrets and lies, the other worldly slivers refuse to be ignored, pushing one family to the brink.

Melanie McGauran’s Beautiful Endorsement

Disembodied voices. Moving objects. Mind-reading. We jump right into Vicki Atkinson’s Slivers with her characters besieged by supernatural forces they don’t understand. The slivers are getting bolder; a terrible tension is building. With Atkinson’s “in-the-moment” storytelling, I felt it almost immediately.

Over one week in the summer of 1973, we see the three protagonists struggle against not only the slivers, but the emotional exposure of a terrible family secret shattering everything they once knew.

Slivers is a story of discovering one’s true identity. These characters can finally face the truth of who they are and their roles in protecting the ancient Hiraeth. There is magic and mysticism, and strong intuition at play.

As the story progresses, Slivers gave me writer Anne Rice vibes. Humans and entities finding a fragile peace and work to share a common ancient history. Love that! I enjoyed so many details of this highly creative storyline. I hope Atkinson continues on this track.

As a fan of supernatural stories, Slivers delivers.

“Slivers delivers”? Wow. And wow. Thank you so much, Melanie, for your enthusiasm and the connection we share — our love of all things mystical!

  9. Good morning, Vicki! I have to start with Dale’s upfront confession regarding Surviving Sue. “I am resenting I have another hour to work because I want to just sink into my chair and read the rest.” I love, love that authenticity. I get her feelings. And, of course, Slivers. ❤️ You know I was thrilled to read your supernatural novel. It has come to mind many times in the two years you first spoke of it. I am so excited for you that the release is finally imminent! Kudos to my mystical friend on your storytelling and hard work. Next week – Wynne! 💕😊
