Peek Inside: “Surviving Sue” – Thank You, Patti!

One of the biggest blogging blessings…and there are many…is the introduction to fellow travelers in life who share some of the same foibles, fears and triumphs.

Connecting with Patti Moore Wilson was a delight – in the exchange of comments as we read each other’s posts and as we enjoy those of fellow bloggers.  When I read a trail of comments and see that Patti’s in the lineup, I invariably lean into her input because it’s often a reflection of what I was thinking or feeling as I read the preceding post.

Over time, we get to know one another.  Blogging buds can be fun and quirky with a sense of humor that only those with a writer’s heart possess.  Wit and wisdom…a dose of love and reality.  Sometimes a slice of a deeply meaningful experience, giving grace and an opportunity to pause and reflect.

Patti is that sort of insightful, thoughtful blogger.  When I learned she read “Surviving Sue” I cheered!  There’s nothing better than knowing someone you hold in high regard has an interest in your story.  Your messy story. Patti read – which was a gift unto itself – and continued to provide praise and encouragement.

I’m grateful to my blogging friends who’ve done the same. It keeps the effort in motion as I continue to talk about the book, my mom and strive to help others by sharing my story.

Two weeks ago, Patti in her characteristically kind way, offered this:

It was so easy to be enthusiastic about Surviving Sue, Vicki.  You have every right to be incredibly proud.  You took a difficult journey and turned it into a cathartic and incredibly helpful playbook for others who have gone through the trials and tribulations of an unwell parent.

Color me humbled.  I thanked Patti and asked if I might quote her and share her beautiful endorsement and of course she said yes.  But today, my point in highlighting Patti’s kind words has less to do with her support of me or promoting my book.  It’s all about turning the tables on Patti and dear ones like her who’ve continued to walk with me as I peel back layers of “life with Sue”

Patti Moore Wilson.  It is my pleasure to count you as a friend.  Now if we can just figure out how to collapse the geographic barriers that separate, we, the merry band of bloggers, we might have a wing ding of a good time.  In person, with actual hugs and not just my potentially tiresome hug emojis. 😉 I cannot help myself.  Unless and until there’s a virtual reality option to simulate the squeeze, I’ll keep at it.

With love and the highest regard,

Vicki ❤

Thank you so much for reading.  I appreciate your interest and feedback about “Surviving Sue” and I’m so pleased to have great reviews on Amazon and Goodreads…and I welcome more.  If you’ve enjoyed the book and my story, please pass along your positivity to a fellow reader.

Terrific stuff, Patti and Vicki. You captured my thoughts precisely, Vicki. Some endorsements and reviews carry a little more weight and meaning because of who they come from.

  12. I popped over to Patti’s blog for a peek and want to follow, but for the life of me do not see how! No ‘follow’ button, no ‘about’, no contact info. Any ideas? I’m fresh out! 🤔

    1. Hello, dear one! I hear you. If you go to the WP Reader and type in the name of Patti’s blog, “Wednesday’s Child” you should find it and then the “follow” button will appear. Hope that helps…and sorry for the delay in responding to you. The gremlins are out this morning…as soon as I began responding to you about twenty minutes ago, my computer decided to go on a coffee break…or something…LOL and wanted to be restarted again. Sheesh! Hugs and love, Jules! 🥰🥰🥰

  13. Boy, oh boy—that was a challenge! “Wednesday’s Child” search came up with Jane Fritz’s reblog (or whatever!). After several tries, I searched ‘Patti Moore’ and finally, Patti’s blog appeared. I pushed the ‘follow’ button and hope it works! Thanks for the help. I hope that your computer enjoyed it’s little unplanned timeout and that you’re back in proper operating condition! Thanks again for the suggestion, Luv!
