You Are the Universe

I love this quote:

You are the universe, expressing itself as a human for a little while.

-Eckhart Tolle

“You are the universe” is such a powerful phrase.  A nudge to take care of ourselves, lest our needs tumult to the bottom of a lengthy to-do list.

Tolle’s reminder also speaks to urgency…we are one, we are everything, but ever-so briefly.  His words prompt the achiever within.  Hurry.  Make haste.  There’s work to be done.

And yet…for me…eyes fixed forward…without regard for where I’ve been is a behavior to avoid. I sit proudly in my life, grateful for the gifts and the challenges that have come. The hills and valleys that made me….me. Guiding me toward my purpose. Where I’m going matters. Where I’ve been? Yes – that matters, too.

Looking back at WordPress stats and the year I’ve experienced with writing and publishing Surviving Sue” I see a lifetime that’s come full circle. Conjuring new-found respect for Tolle’s perspective.

Expressing myself has always been important… a visceral need to be heard and ideally, understood.  I know I’m not alone. Here in WP-land, I’ve found others.  You, perhaps? Those of us who write in order to BE.

Proof positive? Although I tend to ignore the dashboard stats, I’m in a ‘year in review’ mood, so I peeked. Combining stats from this blog, Victoria Ponders, along with Heart of the Matter and “Surviving Sue“, I did the math. Carried the ones added the twos and wow…

156,000 words were written in WP in 2023

99,000 words in “Surviving Sue”

That’s a lot of writing AND reading

255,000 words!

Which brings me to this, dear readers. My two favorite words at the moment:

Thank you.

Vicki 🌟

The stars have aligned! Another slice of the universe is waiting for you on Heart of the Matter.  Starlight and poetry await.

    1. You are making me grin this morning, Erin! Yes…good golly. What WOULD the tally be if I tried to add up all the emojis??? But you’re so right — all of the delightful community building that occurs through kinship in comments. Loads of thoughtful words exchanged…terrific discussions and supportive kindnesses. We are lucky, aren’t we? 🥰

  3. Lots of words, with lots of valuable meaning. I was going to add what Erin already said; this doesn’t count all the words in all the comments you made and responded to; that’s probably another 50,000!! 😏💕

  7. Oh my goodness, you’re right, think how high the numbers would be if you counted the emojis! 🙂 What an impressive journey you’ve been on Vicki. You’ve helped so many others. So happy for you. I love Tolle’s quote. It reminds me of another by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

  12. I love the quote! It really makes you question the wisdom of bothering to pay the mortgage bill every month.

Except I don’t want to end up on the street for even the briefest of existences, so I’ll just keep making those payments, I s’pose.
