Sharing a Secret: My Magic Mood Booster

I found a funny Venn diagram online. I’m not sure of the attribution, but for this very visual, coffee-loving girl, it made me smile. I wish I’d created it, honestly.  Sometimes…a picture – a good graphic – says so much.  More than words. See what I mean?

Which brings me to a favorite song that I cannot get out of my mind based on my love of a good visual.  “More than words” isn’t just a keen expression of truth.  It’s one of my all-time favorite songs.  You know the one…the 1990 beauty by Extreme, but rendered eight years ago with Jimmy and Jack’s special touch:

How is it possible that it’s been 34 years since the song debuted?

That’s all I’ve got. Three minutes and 54 seconds of love. Just love. My magic mood booster and I’m happy to share it with you. And if you’ve read this far and you DIDN’T click into the video? Go back. Please.

“Close your eyes…and just reach out your hands…”

Vicki 🥰

  3. You scared me when you said it’s been 34 years. I remember that song. Every word. Was it really that long ago? I must be getting old. 🤣 Love their version.
Love the Venn diagram too. Makes complete sense. 😆

    1. I know….right??? When I realized when the Extreme version was first released, I was stunned. Thank you so much for following my train of thought. I mean…I never figured a Venn diagram would be a mood booster, but it works for me…and prompted such a fun musical memory. xo to you this morning! 🥰

  4. Venn diagrams, Jack and Jimmy together—all new to me. How did I miss this? Was I raised with my head in another generation? Or a vacuum? Yikes. I wonder what other great things I missed along the way!? Thanks for the belated education! Love it! Love you too! 🥰

  7. I did look at the video before finishing reading your post and listened to all 3 recordings of “Only Words” (including Steve Tyler) which I’m not familiar with. What a lovely song and I like the Jack and Jimmy recording best 👌
The Venn diagram made me laugh.

  8. I’m not very musically inclined but I love that about music: How you can hear a song and instantly be back in time in another place. I love that song too. I’m not sure I could have told you it came out 34 years ago but I probably would’ve been close, only off by a year or two. I have happy memories of driving around favorite places and listening to that song.

  17. Glad you like it. You might take a crack at the finale of Mahler’s Symphony #3, to which he gave the subtitle, “What Love Tells Me.” Purely instrumental, it uses a tune from a Beethoven quartet that was also used in my favorite song, “I’ll Be Seeing You.”

    1. Thank you for that! “I’ll Be Seeing You” is a sentimental favorite…my in-laws special song and the last time they danced to it was at their 50th Anniversary party not long before my father-in-law passed away. I had no idea of the Mahler or Beethoven connections. My mom-in-law was classically trained in piano. I bet she knew! Thank you, Dr. Stein. 🥰
