Perspective

I’m a bit of a wayward poet.

Writing when the spirit moves me…my practice is unpredictable. This one? It arrived this morning and I’m still working through what it means. Poetry is like that for me – appearing in a flourish. I receive and sometimes share. Making meaning of it – beyond the obvious geometry? A task to engage in today…or tomorrow…assuming there’s a message within. Thanks for taking a look. 😊

I think in right angles

Perpendicular lines and parallel moments
Curves and deviations by degrees

Are elusive

Evident to some yet shrouded as I squint
Noting infrequent intersections
Through trajectory alone

Meetings predestined
Learning to see coalescing

A growth moment of
Insight

Eyes on emergence before urgency

  1. Your poetry muse must be shy. Appearing in a flourish. Ha, ha, but I’m definitely jealous, creative even when you’re not trying to be creative. That’s great!! Ha, ha.

    1. Aren’t you kind? Thanks, Brian. I still think worthiness is associated with ‘sweat equity’. Somehow writing it down as it’s rolling out of my head/heart/ feels like a cheat. My own cheat code, LOL. Thanks for reading! 🥰

      1. I hear you about sweat equity but you’re not giving yourself enough credit. You’re forgetting about hours you put into your writing. Yes, it may come in a flourish but how about the hours you spent on your book that laid the foundation for your moment of poetic magic!?!? 😎😎😎😎

      2. Writing it down as it’s rolling out of your head is like a jazz player improvising, or a sketch comedian doing a scene, or a rapper free styling. I’m with Brian- you were subconscious did the work for you somewhere along the line and it just poured out when it was ready. 😎

  6. I read poems through more than once because I bring too much preconceivedness (spellcheck doesn’t like that one) to it the first time. How delectable that you needed to read it written down to see what is there. Poetic journaling.

  8. Oh my gosh, Vicki, this poem is marvellous. What do you mean, this just arrived this morning?? You mean you just wrote it this morning??! And you already have an incredibly effective title image for it??!! I never would have thought of you as thinking at right angles, or to convey so many thoughts in so few words. A woman of many talents! Keep up your poetry, by all means. 😊❤️

    1. You are making me smile, Jane. Thank you so much. Yep – I woke up and wrote down those words and knew right away what image I’d make in Canva to go along with it. I’m with you! I don’t think of myself as a ‘right angle’ girl so the whole of it was a surprise, but I suspect there’s wisdom to mine and I’ll mull on it for a few days. Especially the last phrase, “eyes on emergence before urgency”. I think there’s a message there…and I’ll try to absorb it! Much love to you for your lovely, lovely comment and encouragement dear Jane. xo! 🥰

  9. Love it, Vicki! It suits me. Ha! Imagine angles for a spiral woman here!

    1. I love that you’re bringing that up, Sheila! I think of myself – think of life – in circles (big, small, interconnecting and swirls and spirals – for sure) so the idea that my subconscious is encouraging ‘right angles’ is amusing to me…but it sure got my attention. xo to you! 🥰

      1. I do too, Vicki, think in terms of spirals. Of course it didn’t help that my dad used to make that spiral symbol in the air referring to my mom (as in she’s crazy), when I was young. Ha! Now, it’s me! I am the woo-woo one. LOL
Oh, gotta love how the circle spins back around. Love what dropped in for you in this poetry my friend.

        1. Thank you so much, Sheila. I think you know this far better than I do…the trick in life is paying attention. And your dad? Let’s just say he was paying your mom the ultimate compliment! 🥰

          1. Yes, he was trying to be funny. But now, how right he was! I am writing a book on this spiral connected consciousness stuff currently. Ha!

    1. Edward…thank you so much for reading and for your insight. I agree…I think that phrase must’ve been the point of the poem. Me talking to myself! 😉

  13. I like your poem. I don’t write poetry, never had any classes in it in college, never developed a sense that I could do that. Still, you inspired me to at least think about writing a poem.

I agree – the cool thing about poetry is in the interp! Revealing in more than one way — or super explicit. All about the “receiver”.
      Big hugs! 🥰❤️🥰
