Humor and Grace…

I shared this news a few weeks ago but can’t resist one last reminder that I have a presentation upcoming — next week — on a topic near and dear to me.

Many thanks to librarian, Austin Nord, for the invitation to present at the Woodstock Public Library on Tuesday, July 30 at 6:30 pm. I love the graphic my Woodstock friends designed for the session (captured above).

When in doubt, a comfy chair, a moment to pause with a hot beverage? One of my favorite self-care strategies whether we’re tackling elder care or any other challenge in life. Slowing down is often the most important – and often overlooked – step.

Caregiving is a topic that connects us, whether we’re providing or receiving. It continues to be one of the most unexpected glimmers of goodness, resulting from writing Surviving Sue.

Two recent comments from readers perfectly captured my motivation share and help others:

  • “Reading your book reminded me that we can’t always change our circumstances, but we can find strength in ourselves.”
  • “Your strength and ability to always do the right thing in the face of madness should be a case study in a school course on compassion and focusing on the task at hand. You have a bottomless reservoir of goodness and strength.”

Goodness, strength, compassion, empathy. We can never have too much. Building the bench strength that we need to tackle the challenges in life, by gathering, sharing and connecting with one another? I love it.

Thanks for all of the support,

Vicki 😊

  6. You’re going to do great! You personify that glimmer of goodness. But tell me, where did those guys get a picture of me for the graphic? they might have added a little hair to the top, but I can tell me when I see me!

    1. Oh…I wish you could see me smiling and giggling. I’ll be sure to ask my librarian friend, Austin, how they snuck into your home and captured a pic of you. So stealthy, huh? Thanks, Michael! 🤣🥰🤣

    1. Making me giggle…not THAT Woodstock…the ‘other’ Woodstock…the home of Bill Murray’s famous “Groundhog Day”. Wholesome, Mark. Wholesome! 🤣

      1. This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat. What a hype. Groundhog Day used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the hog out, and they used to eat it. You’re hypocrites, all of you!

        THAT Woodstock! Got it.

  17. My father-in-law age 92 and his wife I’ve been at our house for three weeks. We are not necessarily providing elder care. They are extremely independent and drive. However, taking some deep breaths especially after we talk about politics has been a daily ritual for me 😁😉

    1. Oh my…YES! I bet you’ve needed to do some deep breathing…not worth starting a family rumble. And cheers to your father-in-law and his wife…still driving and doing their thing. I love it. Hope you have some quiet days coming up soon! xo! 🥰
