I’m not a poet but I love to dabble, especially when stream-of-consciousness poetry arrives. Almost in an auto-write format. I’ll explain…
It doesn’t happen often, but words and phrases…sometimes whole stanzas of poetry command my attention if my dad populated my subconscious overnight. I wish I could summon these bon-mot-moments on demand. Alas, I must wait and capture what arrives, when it arrives. Pen in hand or fingers clamoring for a keyboard, I stumble out of bed and race to write.
I’m still musing about the latest nocturnal gem, thinking I’ve gleaned meaning. Happy to receive.
Pull inward when the season shifts
When light diminishes
Homecoming is yours
Lean toward the streak of mid-day sun
And its fleeting presence
In the pause
Hear my voice
Distant but clear…near
Gifts came, wrapped in burdens
You help
You heal
Outward displays
But remember to turn inward
Just as nature does
Shedding summer brights
For earthy hues
Resetting
For growth
Accomplishments ahead
Nurtured by love
Pushing forward. “Doing the things”, as my dad would say. Like gulping and writing a feature for “Bold Journey” magazine, talking about myself and sharing the wonderful work Wynne Leon and I do – interviewing authors and learning about creative folks. Thank you to dear Maggie Watson for the recommendation to the Bold Journey team!
Sending all of my best wishes to you!
